Tinamaree is the epitome of kiwi can-do; from her production company in Turangi (Awekura Productions LTD, 2004) she contributes to almost every aspect of production on the television programmes she makes, her commitment to Maori language, arts and youth unwavering.
She is the co-creator, co-writer, co-producer, director, production manager, art director and editing director for Koi (MTS, first series 2005), the Māori language programme for youth that won Best Māori Language Programme 2006, and was a Best Children’s Programme finalist at both the TVNZ awards and Screen Guild awards in 2005.
She also has worked in several capacities on further Maori language programmes, animated programmes and a televised national talent quest for youth.
Coming from an extensive background in Maori language (Graduate Te Panekiretanga o Te Reo 2007) and Maori art development/ community (Tumuaki Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ahorangi, Creator Māori Dance and Drama resources MOE nationwide 2001), Tinamaree is well placed to make quality programming to support Maori culture.
In her spare time Tinamaree has directed an original Māori language compilation music album (2004) and is manager of Te Whare Ahorangi Arts Trust. In addition Tinamaree is mother of seven (4-18 years) and grandmother of two.
