October 14-19 2008
WIFT members are cordially invited to participate in the fifth year of New York Women in Film & Television/Hamptons International Film Festival short series TO THE POINT: WOMEN TELLING STORIES THROUGH MEDIA, an entry point to the WIFT International Short Film Showcase.
The Series provides a unique platform for WIFTV member filmmakers to showcase their multi-faceted short films and videos -- fictional narratives, animations, documentaries and experimental works that bring unorthodox and original perspective to the experiences of women from all walks of life from around the world.
TO THE POINT showcases the filmmaking forte of women from, for example, Australia, England and the USA. Last year’s submissions included works from Canada to New Zealand, all enthusiastically received by members of the filmmaking community and the general movie-going public.
If you wish to participate in this exciting showcase of filmmaking talent, visit the New York Women in Film & Television website, www.nywift.org [1]. There is a link to the NYWIFT/HIFF APPLICATION (submitted in duplicate) for the TO THE POINT SERIES.
There is no fee to submit for this series, and all films must be UNDER 20 MINUTES and completed by JUNE 30, 2005.
NOTE: Entering TO THE POINT does not automatically enter you into The Hamptons International Film Festival Shorts Category. Members will need to submit directly to the HIFF shorts category. For entering separately into the Hamptons International Film Festival Shorts Category, please visit the Hamptons Film Festival website at: www.hamptonsfilmfest.org [2],
Selections for To the Point are made by a panel of NYWIFT member filmmakers and by the Hamptons International Film Festival Programming Department.
NYWIFT/HIFF To The Point is again one of three North American points of entry for the WIFTI SHORT FILM SHOWCASE. If WIFT members wish to submit their film for consideration to the 2009 WIFTI Showcase, they will be asked to sign a section of the HIFF/NYWIFT application.
TO THE POINT is an excellent path to visibility for extraordinary women filmmakers from around the world.
