WIFT International, a network of over 10,000 women working in the screen industry around the world.
Mairi is a Cinematographer. She came up through the Camera Department, Loading and Pulling Focus on Drama, TVCs, Music Videos and Documentaries. In 1994 she was awarded the Panasonic ITVA Award for Best Camera. Since then she has shot a 16mm Feature - "Gravity and Grace" and another on tape - "Reality Show", award winning short films including "Donuts for Breakfast" and "Point Your Toes, Cushla!" and music videos for musicians including the 3Ds, Chris Knox, the Mutton Birds and Big Belly Woman. Her many documentaries include work for BBC World and Documentary NZ and have taken her to Ireland, the USA and Samoa. She is presently Co-Producer and DP on a feature length documentary for Maori Television about the pollution of Lake Omapere in the Far North. Mairi has been with WIFT for eleven years. She was instrumental in bringing together representatives from the various industry organisations for a series of meetings that founded the Green Ribbon Trust - or the Campaign for Local Content. She had the good fortune to attend both the New Zealand and the Los Angeles WIFTI Summits and will be attending the Toronto 2007 Summit as our Representative on the WIFT International Governance Board. She has found international contact to be one of the most valuable aspects of belonging to WIFT.Thursday 23 October, 5.30-7.30pm
