Fumes produces TV3’s award winning series WA$TED! which promotes household’s reducing their overall resource use and lower their impact on the planet.
WA$TED! won the Ministry for the Environment’s Green Ribbon Award for encouraging NZers toward more sustainable practices and Fumes won the Sustainable Business 2007 Northern Innovation Award.
WA$TED! was viewed by a collective NZ audience of over 3 million viewers, rated in TV3’s top 5 programmes of the week and the official website had over 70,000 hits a week and over 1000 people working out their household footprint while the show was on air.
WA$TED! worked with Enviroschools to develop a schools programme that made it simple for all teachers to download free activities that related to specific themes in each episode. The DVD of the complete series is available for organisations, schools and individuals has been sent out to over 250 groups.
Fumes worked with a large number of groups within the environmental community, partnering with EECA and Landcare Research to ensure information in the series was accurate. Fumes ensured production of WA$TED! was environmentally friendly, taking up the “Greening the Screen” programme to reduce impact on the planet and using the carbonZeroCertTM programme to offset unavoidable emissions created during production of the show.
Series two of WA$TED! is now in production.
