Catherine Fitzgerald

Catherine Fitzgerald has produced four internationally acclaimed and prize wining theatrical short dramas: Turangawaewae, Two Cars, One Night, The Little Things, and Kerosene Creek. She has also produced documentary for Māori TV, and a digital feature film Event 16 distribution NZ, Australia, Japan, each of which profiles new film directing talent.

Catherine has executive produced a further 6 new short films for the NZFC. Blueskin Films Ltd has a slate of feature films in development focusing on award winning directors and writers for the screen and theatre. To date the company has proven its mission of working with highly talented creatives to produce quality films, television and other audio-visuals with broad international appeal.

She also undertakes development and/or production services for other companies: projects include In My Father’s Den (2004), and the upcoming Rain of the Children and The Paraffin Child (WTO). She is consultant development executive for a number of other projects. She works regularly as a dramaturge with Playmarket, the pre-eminent agency and script advisory service for New Zealand playwrights, for Taki Rua, and as industry assessor and mentor to degree and post graduate writing students.

Catherine chairs the NZ Film Festival Trust, serves as a Board member of Playmarket, a member of the WIFT Wellington Executive Committee, and has worked as an advisor to the NZ Qualifications Authority and ITP Quality, the Screen Council and te Māngai Pāho. She served as a Jury Member Berlinale 2006 – (Kinderfest), and represented NZ at the Golden Horse Film Festival’s New Zealand Talent Showcase in Taiwan in November 2005.

She has previously served as a Government appointed Member of the NZ Film Commission (1990-1994) and as Chair of the NZFC Short Film Fund (1991-1995).
